Why Purpose Matters After Loss (And Why Storytelling Is So Powerful)
One of the hardest parts of grief is figuring out how to move forward while carrying the loss with you.
For many people, loss can create a sense of emptiness or confusion. Things that once felt important may no longer feel meaningful in the same way. That is why having a sense of purpose becomes so important.
Purpose gives you direction. It gives you something to continue building toward, even during difficult seasons of life.
For me, part of that purpose became storytelling.
Storytelling is unique because every person’s experience is different. No two relationships are exactly alike, and no two stories are told in the same way. Through storytelling, people are able to preserve memories, communicate lessons, and help others who may be going through similar experiences.
One of the most powerful things about stories is that they allow people to connect emotionally. Facts and information are important, but stories help people understand what an experience actually felt like.
You do not have to be a perfect writer to share a meaningful story. What matters most is honesty, reflection, and a willingness to communicate something real.
Sometimes purpose begins with simply taking what you have experienced and turning it into something that can help someone else.
